We were pleased to feature Shilpa D. Ramegowda, PhD Scholar at Gachon University & BK21 Fellow, at the India–Korea Forum 2026 held in Seoul ahead of the upcoming India–Korea Summit.
In her remarks, she shared a thoughtful perspective as an Indian citizen living in South Korea, expressing sincere appreciation for the opportunities, support, and overall environment provided by Korea. She highlighted that Korea offers a valuable space for professional growth and cross-cultural engagement for the Indian community.
At the same time, she pointed out several practical challenges faced by Indians living in Korea, including issues related to children’s global education, work opportunities for dependent visa holders, and language barriers. She emphasized that addressing these concerns would significantly improve the overall comfort, integration, and long-term settlement experience of the Indian community.
Her reflections underscored a critical point:
➡️ Strengthening India–Korea relations requires not only high-level cooperation, but also addressing the everyday challenges of the Indian community in Korea to foster sustainable talent mobility.
At a time when people-to-people ties are becoming central to global partnerships, creating a more inclusive and supportive ecosystem for the Indian community in Korea will be key to building a long-term and future-oriented India–Korea talent partnership.
